SOPHIA LUCIA joins our cast in the originating role of the
Sophia, age 14, is a world-renowned dancer, actress, model and spokesperson. Just like any professional Athlete, she trains 30 hours a week and is proficient in Jazz, Contemporary, Tap and Ballet. Sophia’s focus and determination is leading her to excel in many ways. In 2016, Sophia won Gold at the prestigious VARNA International Ballet Competition. She has won numerous dance titles such as Junior Female Best Dancer at the 2014 Dance Awards in New York City. Sophia set the New Official Guinness World Record of 55 Consecutive Pirouettes, and is the spokes model & designer of her dancewear line with ‘California Kisses’, and has her own Signature Pirouette Dance Shoe, “Turning Pointe 55” and Sponsorship with the Iconic Dance Brand, ‘Capezio.’ Sophia is ecxited to join the CBVC for our 2016 Nutcracker! At such a young age, Sophia has been featured in numerous high-rated television shows such as 'Dancing with the Stars,' ‘So You Think You Can Dance,’ ‘Dance Moms,’ ‘X-Factor,’ ‘America’s Got Talent,’ and interviewed by the best Talk Shows ‘The Ellen Show’ and ‘The Ricki Lake Show, plus Guest Starring Acting Roles on Disney’s “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn” and “Kirby Buckets!” From London, Australia and to the United States, Sophia can be seen on the cover of several popular dance magazines across the globe such as Dancetrain, Starbound, Prima Dance and Dance Spirit Magazine. Inspired by her first Principle role in the world premier of the Phoenix ballet "Rising,” Sophia moved to Scottsdale, AZ to study under Slawomir Wozniack, principal ballet dancer of the National Opera in Warsaw, and Artistic Director of Master Ballet Academy. Sophia’s artistry, talent and ability have catapulted her to Internet Stardom and taken her across the world to do what she loves most, dance.
AUSTEN ACEVEDO joins our cast as the CAVALIER! Austen, age 16, currently trains at Ellison Ballet’s Professional Program. He previously trained at Orlando Ballet under the direction of Dierdre Miles Burger, Oliver Munioz , Natasha Glos, Kim Marsh, Sheri Metcalf and OB faculty from 2010 to 2016. Austen was a featured dancer at the 2016 Gala De Danza, Cabo Mexico, as well as the ADC-IBC International Ballet Gala, Florida. Austen was a 2015 Prix de Lausanne Grand Prize Winner and was the first American Pre-Professional to perform at Mariinsky Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia, as their closing act performance. He was featured in Dance Spirit Magazine's December 2015 issue of “People you Should Know”. He was also a 2015 YAGP NYC Finals Silver Medalist & Regional Gold Medalist. Austen has danced at Lincoln Center NYC, at the Gala, "Stars of Today Meet Stars of Tomorrow” and the 2015 Gala de Danza, Cabo Mexico. Austen was a 2015-2013 ABT/JKO National Training Scholar and has performed with the Orlando Ballet Company, under Artistic Director Robert Hill, in Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Carmen, Coppelia, Vampires Ball, Tribute (Orlando Ballet’s 40th Year Anniversary), A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Austen won the 2014 World Ballet Finals Bronze Medal, the 2014 YAGP NYC Finals Silver Medal, and the 2014 YAGP Tampa Regional Grand Prix. Austen is excited to be our 2016 Cavalier! He joins his extraordinary partner Juliette Bosco as our Sugarplum Fairy, and the luminescent Sophia Lucia as our North Star! JULIETTE BOSCO joins our cast as the SUGARPLUM FAIRY. Juliette, age 14, is in the Professional Program at Ellison Ballet in NYC. She won the Gold Medal (Soloist) at Youth America Grand Prix Finals in NYC and 1st Place Semi-finals YAGP 2015. She was the First Recipient of The Natalia Makarova Award for the Most Outstanding Female Dancer during YAGP Finals (2015), and won the Silver Medal (Pas de Deux) at Youth America Grand Prix Finals in NYC (2015)/1st Place Semi-finals YAGP 2015, and the Bronze Medal (Pas de Deux) at Youth America Grand Prix Finals in NYC (2016). Juliette is a Grishko Model Award Recipient- received at YAGP (2015) and was awarded scholarships to Royal Ballet, Princess Grace Academy and Orlando Ballet. In 2015 Juliette was invited to study at The Vaganova Academy along with featured roles to be performed with The Mikhailovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia. She was offered year round and summer scholarships to Princess Grace Academy, Orlando Ballet and The Rock School (2016, 2015, 2014 & 2013). Juliette says she is honored to be our 2016 CBVC Sugarplum in this year’s Nutcracker! Welcome to the CBVC family, Juliette!
